For her biggest career moments, Dakota Johnson often turns to Saint Laurent. For the New York premiere of How To Be Single in 2016, the actor selected a floor-skimming nude gown to walk the red carpet. Then for the premiere of Fifty Shades of Grey in Germany in 2017, she opted for a slinky black sequinned dress from the brand. Now she’s tapped the French label once more for the premiere of her latest film, The Peanut Butter Falcon, in LA.
Joined by fellow A-lister and co-star Shia LaBeouf, Johnson paired the custom black and gold embroidered mini-dress with large gold hoops by Jennifer Fisher and black strappy heels. Steered by Kate Young (who’s also behind Margot Robbie’s red carpet looks), the ensemble was the picture of understated glamour. After the hype surrounding the heritage brand’s latest ambassadors – think Keanu Reeves and Finn Wolfhard – is it any wonder Johnson has turned to the work of Anthony Vaccarello for the big night? As Vaccarello told Vogue backstage about the construction of his latest collection, “I just want to give even more power to women. She’s not a warrior. She’s not mean. She’s just confident.”
The film, which has been described as a “Mark Twain-style adventure”, sees Johnson take on the role of caregiver Eleanor in the heartfelt tale. It follows the life of Zak (played by Zack Gottsagen), a young man with Downs Syndrome who runs away from a residential nursing home. Aiming to become a professional wrestler he meets Tyler (Shia LaBeouf) on the road.
